January Choose Your Fighter: Dry, Damp, or Soaked

  • Dry

  • Damp

  • Soaked

We are halfway through the first month of the new year. Some are holding onto that dry January resolution we made to ourselves just a few weeks ago. Others decided a few days in that damp January would suffice. The rest bypassed damp and went straight to soaking wet. I would say I am falling between "others" and "the rest". The reality is I am here for them all.

In case you wanted to make THE BEST cocktail or mocktail during the winter months, there are two fabulous recipes below. Choose your fighter. The good news is whether you are team cocktail or team mocktail, they are both top tier. Ultimately, whatever makes you feel good is the best option for you. Each month, I am going to choose one cocktail and one mocktail to highlight on my blog. Make them both and see which one you like best!

Team Cocktail- Espresso Martini edition

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz Vodka of your choice (I'm a Tito's girl, don't come for me)

  • 1 oz Coffee liqueur

  • 1 oz Espresso or cold brew

  • 1/2 oz Simple syrup

  • Coffee beans (must be included, 3 to be exact)

  • FOR MY LAZY (yet efficient) GIRLIES: My best friend bought this beauty for me for the holidays. It has all you need to survive in the bottle already. All you need to do is fill the bottle with your favorite vodka, let it infuse, shake with ice, and strain into a glass (comes with the strainer too). The hardest part is it does need to infuse for 3-5 hours. I know..a difficult choice. For a creamier option, you can add milk or cream to your shaker. Highly recommend. You can find ones like this at your local Marshalls, TJMaxx, or HomeGoods.

Team Mocktail- Non-Alcoholic Moscow Mule edition

Ingredients:

  • Ginger beer

  • Seltzer water (lime flavor) or Sprite : depending on your sweetness preference

  • For reference, I did half ginger beer, half seltzer water, and she slayed. Do whatever makes you smile.

  • 1 oz Lime juice

  • 1 oz Simple syrup

  • Ice

  • Fresh mint/lime wedges/any cute fruit: for extra flavor/decor

Just a reminder: whether you are committed to dry January or you got through week 1 and needed a DRANK, you can still be proud of yourself. You can still be committed to yourself. You can still speak to yourself with kind words. If you are starting in a place where you feel like you've already failed the new year, pick yourself up. If making a cute little beverage (cocktail or mocktail) makes you feel happy, do the damn thing! Keep going! Happy drinking!
